Indian Runner duck

unusual

Indian runners are tall and unique. They stand upright like a penguin and run vs waddle.  Our breeder offer hatching eggs from a colourful flock. Indian runners can lay up to 300 eggs per year.

Males are called drakes and the females are called ducks. This can be said for any duck variety.  Runners can go brooder and are wonderful mothers. They will protect their young with their life. They are high strung birds but can be handled easily. They can be made into pets if handled young using feed to lure them. They are easy to herd into the pen. These ducks are the most active foragers of all ducks and cost very little to feed in the warmer months. They search for insects, snails, slugs, weeds and other edibles. Their life span is 8-10 years. They make a wonderful addition to any farm.
